Rosé Champagne

Rosé, or pink champagne, is usually made by adding a small quantity of still red wine to the blend. This has the effect of adding not only colour but also often extra body and fruit.

    “Cuvée Léonie” Brut Rosé N.V., Canard-Duchêne, 12% vol, 75cl


    Named after Léonie Duchêne, one of the founders of the company, “Cuvée Léonie” is reserved for independent wine merchants and the world’s finest restaurants.


    The blend is 50% Pinot Noir, 25% Pinot Meunier and 25% Chardonnay with reserve wine accounting for a significant proportion of the total (25%), particularly Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims vinified as a still red wine and used in the blend to add the lovely pink colour. Extended ageing in the cellar (3 years) adds depth and complexity.


    Pretty pink in appearance with a very fine mousse. It is delicate on the nose with a very attractive creamy palate of ripe raspberries and cherries.  The fruit is balanced nicely with firm acidity and a good minerality in the long, dry finish. Great finesse and harmony.

    A delicate salmon pink in appearance, the nose is of cherries and raspberries with richer blackcurrant flavours deloping on the palate. A very well made and elegant rosé.
