The Clos Galena winery is the life work of the Pérez and Dalmaus families – their objective being to create fine and unique wines.
The estate’s 11 hectares of organic vineyards are on land that once belonged to the Carthusian monks from the Scala Dei Monastery who, in the Middle Ages, introduced vine growing and wine-making to the region of Priorat..
“Formiga” is a blend of Grenache noir (60%), Carignan (20%) and Syrah (20%). Each variety is hand picked, carefully selected and vinified separately before blending and ageing for 9 months in a mixture of French and American oak.
Bright cherry red in appearance, the nose is fresh and juicy with complex aromas of red and black fruits and hints of marmalade. The palate is full and powerful, fresh and fleshy with a long, soft finish with gentle, fresh tannins.
