Saint-Amour 2010 Domaine des Pins, Jean-Francois Echallier Domaine Des Pins is a wonderful, traditional domaine producing robust wines, which possess marvellous ageing potential. It is owned and managed by Jean-Francois Echallier and the 8 hectares of vines (50-year average age) are well sited on granite oils overlooking the village of St Armour. The wines are fermented in lined cement tanks and then aged in large (40-60hl) old foudres for 6 months prior to bottling. The domaine is an illustration of the heights that can be attained with the Gamay when the grower is conscientious and quality orientated, and is blessed with superbly sited vineyards. A real star in the making. |
