Vin de Constance 2006, Klein Constantia, 50cl South Africa's finest dessert wine from the Muscat de Frontignan (muscat blanc á petits grains) grape variety. The wine is made from shriveled but not botrytized grapes. Bright golden in colour, the nose is filled with tropical aromas of dried pineapple, mango and with raisined, caramelised notes. The palate has a fresh acid entry which develops richness and envelopes the mouth in a fusion of tropical flavours tapering to a lingering, delicate finish. The good acidity levels make this an extremely long lived wine capable of ageing for 20 years given suitable cellar conditions. |
