The Pulenta family has been making wine in Argentina for three generations since the arrival of Angelo Pulenta and Palmina Spinssanti in Argentina from Ancona, Italy in 1902.
Eduardo and Hugo Pulenta, run the estate today.
The fruit for this wine (100% Malbec) is from two vineyard sites planted in 1992. “La Zulema” Estate, Agrelo, in the Luján de Cuyo region is situated at 980 metres above sea level and “Vinedos Don Antonio” in the Uco Valley is at 1,200 metres.
The grapes are hand picked with a selection of the bunches and grapes in the winery.
Alcoholic fermentation is in stainless steel tanks, concrete tanks, and French oak barrels. The malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak casks. Ageing is for 12 months in French oak, 50% new and 50% second use.
The wine is bright violet in appearance with a nose of red fruits – strawberries and cherries – and more delicate floral notes. On the palate, it is rich and round with soft tannins supporting the full fruit character. The finish is long and persistent.
