Established in 1858 and based in Pokolbin, New South Wales, Tyrrell’s are a medium sized family business with vineyards in the Hunter Valley, Limestone Coast and Heathcote, and export to more than 50 countries around the world.
Tyrrell’s Old Winery range is named after its historic winery in the Hunter Valley, built in 1863 for the first vintage in 1864. A classic range of wines produced using fruit from premium Australian wine regions, Old Winery delivers distinctive varietal character and outstanding quality synonymous with the Tyrrell’s name.
A multi regional blend of Pinot Noir fruit from some of the best red growing regions in the country. The majority of the fruit was machine harvested, after which the fruit was fermented in a combination of traditional hand plunged open vats and larger potter tanks. Maturation was then carried out in predominantly French oak for 12 months prior to bottling.
Lots of varietal cherry and strawberry aromas with complex forest floor undertones. A soft but generously flavoured style with sweet aromas of berries and mushroom. The palate is long and concentrated with rich sweet fruit, subtle savoury oak support and smooth tannins.
